Your Deepest Secret is: You Eat People!

It's from some quiz I took: I liked the entry before that though, one of my more creative moments.... Click for an oldie but goodieCollapse )
Stupid snow is in town. I hate snow. Even though it's pretty to look at, it just screws everything up. BTW, Zane's sister had her baby yesterday early morning. Linden Michael Lewis, 7lbs. 10 oz. (is that the correct abbreviation for ounces?). His sister's name is Cedar and she chose Linden b/c it's a type of tree too! He's adorable and everything was fine. Other than that, my weekend was pretty uneventful. Watched Saw II (disappointing - Saw was much better), Wallace & Gromit: Curse of the Were-Rabbit (Hilarious!), and Doom (A little cheesy, but scarier than Saw II). I guess I better try to get home before I end up getting stuck here because of the shitty roads. (That would be horrible!)

15th-Feb-2006 05:42 pm - Whoo Hoo!
I hope everyone had a great Valentine's Day yesterday. . . I sure did! Even a great weekend! Zane and I took a trip down to the Altus area to visit the wineries and such. We stayed at this great bed and breakfast. Our room had at least 8 or 9 windows across looking over the Arkansas River. What a view! Friday night we went to a place called Kelts. A great Irish pub with FABULOUS food!! (Apparently, Paris Hilton liked to go there when they did the Simple Life.) I had grilled salmon and Zane had a rib eye steak. Plus a piece of Kelts pie for dessert, it was a mixture of chocolate, coconut and pecans. Mmmm, mmmmm. They even had live music, Some Guy Named Rob. They even gave us a free cd and let us try some of their dessert! They said we had to try Kelts key lime cheesecake, which was divine, so we got a piece to go!

Sat. we drove up Mt. Magazine State Park and checked out the new visitor's center. It was really cold that day and there was about 3-4 inches of snow on the mountain. It was so beautiful. We even made almond butter and jelly sandwiches on the top of the mountain for lunch. = ) Then we hit Cowie Wine Cellars and The Post Family Winery for tastings. (I love me some wine!!) The Cowie Winery is pretty small but really neat. The guy started it himself and even has a history of Arkansas wine museum he's put together. Really nice guy. Then we had dinner at the Wiederkehr restaurant. More good food - baked mushrooms, salads, swiss onion soup (drooling), I had chicken fettuccine and Zane had some schnitzel thing with meat and cheese. I'd had so much wine by then, I don't even remember what we had for dessert.

Sunday after another amazing breakfast by our b&b host, we went to the Wiederkehr winery for tasting. Nothing liking starting off the day with a good wine buzz. All in all, we bought 4 bottles at Cowie, 2 bottles at Post, and 6 bottles at Weidker for a whopping total of 12! (We had one bottle in the room on Sat, so we came home with 11). Not bad, huh?

We had agreed that was our present to each other (although he didn't let me pay for a single thing), so I wasn't expecting anything on Tuesday. He was cooking steaks and I was going to cook twice baked potatoes and steamed artichokes. Instead, Zane comes home with a bag from Bath & Body Works with lots of smell good goodies and a ring box in it! I got a BEAUTIFUL emerald ring, with 1/3 quarter of diamonds arranged on each side of it. I was so shocked! I love it! I'm so proud of it I can't help giggling when I see it on my finger. = )

Well, I think that's enough bable for now. ; )
26th-Jan-2006 05:43 pm - The day is soooo long....

Especially when you have to work to freaking 6:30 every night. I've been doing a little better this week. At least I've gotten in to work every day so far this week. And I even worked a little overtime too. YEA!! Kiss my ass, control freak, super mean boss lady!!

My newest hobby - cooking. I know, I've always said I'm domestically challenged, but I've really been getting into it. I search online for recipes all the time. Makes for a long day when I cook after getting off work at 6:30 though. I made some Tortilla Soup last night. It was mmmm, mmmm good!! All organic too!  = )

I am also booked to judge my very first pageant!! I am soooo excited!!! I used to compete in the Miss Oklahoma American Coed Pageants No, they're not actually coed as in girls and boys, it's just their organization name. It's actually how I got started in pageants back in 1996. Lord, that makes me feel old. I competed for 3 years and got tons of trophies and scholarship money. They have a lot of "optional entry" phases of competition like talent, photogenic, speech, modeling, acting, and even best sponsor letter. My best year was 1998, when I won Miss Photogenic and 2nd runner up overall. Yeah, I just wanted to brag on myself a little. So what. You want to make somethin' of it??? Anyways, OK has been without a director for the past couple of years. The people who ran it when I competed quit shortly after I aged out. I guess they figured they just couldn't go on without me..... yeah, right. Somehow, she got my name and number and called me up to ask me to judge. And it turns out it's the weekend of my birthday, so I'll be in Norman, OK this year to celebrate the big 2-5. (shudders)

I know, I know, this is all exciting stuff, huh? I'm actually bored out of my mind waiting for 6:30 to get here. Did you get that I work until 6:30pm?

Well I hope everyone is having a more exciting evening than I am.

Talk to ya later, kiddos.

23rd-Jan-2006 06:17 pm - I know it's been a LONG time....

Just a quick update to let you all know I'm okay. Still been having lots of health issues. I was in the hospital the week before classes started. What a way to start the semester, huh? I'm still busting my ass to try to work 40 hours a week, not loose my job, keep up with my one class (old english poetry - we have to translate it too - yuck!), and hopefully finish my thesis by May. It's going to be a rough semester. Other than that, I guess I'm fine. Holidays were great. My brother came in from CA for Thanksgiving and I spent Christmas at home and then met up with Zane in Fayetteville. We're still doing good - no ring for Christmas though. = `(

I hope everyone is doing well and hasn't forgotten about me!

3rd-Nov-2005 01:44 pm - So bored

I keep feeling better and better every week, which has lead to working more, which has lead to not having anything to do. Oh well. Thank goodness for the limitless capabilities of the internet.

Let's see, what have I been up to. Not much really. Last weekend Zane and I watched Nightmare on Elmstreet 1, 2, 3, and then watched 4 on Halloween. I own the entire set. I love horror flicks!  I was really wanting to go to a party, but we never heard of any good ones going on (there was this one that was supposed to be at a friend of a friend of a friend.....).

Oh well. I did dress up at work on Monday. I wore my black wig (looks like this haircut ), with a bright green top, long black skirt, funky black tights, and boots. I said I was my alter ego "Geraldine". (Sorry, I didn't take any pics, so just use your imagination.) Fun, fun.

I went out with Jess on Tuesday night to hear her man sing. He's got a great voice, but it bothers me that he looks 12 while he's singing. Plus he does this squinty eye thing. Oh well. She thinks he's good and I did have a great time. I even got up on stage and danced with them for a song. There was a whole 7 people there, including me and Jess. I had a little too much fun, b/c as soon as I got home I started puking. Puked all night and woke up with a horrible hangover. Even hit my head during the sickness - so now I've got a lump on my eye. I'm just glad it didn't bruise too bad. I really didn't drink that much - just white wine. I guess it was the dancing that made it worse. That's what I get for going out on a weeknight.

On another note, back when I was missing a lot of work I got hooked on watching Dawson's Creek reruns on TBS. It came on from 9am-11am. TBS always does this back to back episodes thing during the day. Don't know why. Anywho, now that I've been making it to work, I've been missing my Dawson's Creek. = (  They recently switched times to 7am - 9am though, but I'm having a little difficulty dealing with it that early. Like the other day, Joey was mugged at gunpoint and afterwards the mugger got hit by a car. Then she meets his wife and daughter at the hospital and later, he dies. Too much drama before 8am. I still catch snipits of it in between commercials of Good Morning America though.

So, I guess that's about it for me kiddos. Guess it's back to work.

p.s. Still without my car. =`( I did $1500 worth of damage.
24th-Oct-2005 04:43 pm - BAD LUCK!

I swear, I've been having the worst luck lately. I must have severly pissed off some cosmic forces. Last Friday I found out that I wasn't getting my loan check b/c I'm only enrolled in 3 hours. You would think my so-called financial adviser would have noticed that when I applied for the loan, but I guess not. Not a big problem though. I've already arranged an independent study with Dr. Hammons in the dept. where I work. I'm going to be updating all his course info into more technologically savy presentations. I'm a whiz with PowerPoint, if I do say so myself.

Then, Wed. night I was reversing out of Zane's steep driveway and I noticed I was going a lot faster than I normally do, so I tried to slow down and my brakes didn't work. So I slammed into the neighbors rock wall. Zane also lives on a steep hill that goes straight into a cross street (where old Hunstville crosses into 6th street for all you Fayetteville people), so I'm lucky I hit the wall or I would have gone straight down the hill. (shudders) It was very scary, but luckily I wasn't hurt. My car's not too bad, but the muffler does have some damage.

So now I'm having to deal with insurance people. What a pain. The stupid adjuster hasn't even looked at my car yet and apparently he's on vacation until Thursday. Not to mention it took me 3 days to get a darn rental from Enterprise. Why do I have to deal with all the idiots?? So who knows when I'll have my car back.

Plus, today I had a doctor's appt. with my new doc in Johnson. I waited 45 minutes until they finally told me he wasn't going to be back from surgery and that I'd need to reschedule. I don't know if it's been the stress or what, but I've been hurting pretty bad again. Had to miss 2 days last week and was out a bunch today.

Other than that, things have been great though. HA! Let's hope all my bad luck has run out and I'll have a good rest of the week.....

I know it's been a while. I've been super busy with work and my thesis. Usuallyall my time that I'm feeling good is devoted to work and school these days. Every week I seem to be feeling a little better. I'm off of my big endo drug (aka: the breast cancer drug) and am seeing a new doctor in Lowell. He's okay. I've gotten the most help from a nutritionist I saw about 3 weeks ago. I've switched to eating everything (or as much as I can) organic. I'm also on some herbs to help with my digestion. Also, no pork or tap water - only spring water. I can really tell a difference. It can get pretty expensive, but Zane and I have a membership to the Natural Foods store here, and they give us lots of discounts. Plus there's always the farmer's market on the square.

I finally made it out to Dickson street a couple weeks ago. (Not during Bikes, Blues & BBQ though - it was INSANE!) Went out with mt friend Jess to hear B-Side at another one of their "Last Shows" at the Gypsy. Had a blast! It was soooo good for me to get out. Finally got to meet her new man that she's living with. He seems cool - looks like he's 12 though.

I'm really sad that I'm not entering the Miss Heart of the Ozarks pageant this year. They're finally having it here in Fayetteville! I just don't think I'm up to par health wise (or financially, but that's a whole 'nother story...). It's on the 29th and I'm definitely going to watch.

So, everything is going pretty well right now. I'll be a lot better when my loan comes in. ; ) Looks like I'm on my way to getting back on my feet. Hope y'all didn't forget me!

1st-Sep-2005 01:06 pm - I really hate my life sometimes...

I'm still in CONSTANT pain and 2 of my doctors (one is the specialist) have quit seeing me. They refuse to even give me pain medication anymore. I feel like I'm losing my mind. Oh, but wait, I lost it a long time ago.  So I've been trying to DRAG myself into work lately, because if I don't, I'm likely to get fired soon. My FMLA assistance has run out, so my benefits and my job are no longer protected from excessive absences. My supervisor's tried working with me, having me work 9 - 5:30, but it's still tough.

I'm supposed to enroll in thesis hours, but I don't even feel like messing with school right now. So, I'm just sitting here trying get through this stinking day and tomorrow. Thank god it's a long weekend. To bad I'm too much of an invalid to enjoy it.

Go enjoy the fruits of being healthy - get drunk and have extra fun for me this labor day weekend.
